Zendaya and John David Washington star in the movie Malcolm & Marie. The movie is about a young filmmaker (John) and his muse (Zendaya) who does not feel appreciated by John's character. Zendaya is co-owner and executive producer on the project. She invested her own money into the movie and owns part of the movie. This gave her the freedom to create a unique pay structure for the cast and crew. The cast and crew will get points on the movie AND get paid. If the movie is a box office smash the points could equate more in dollars than the actual salary. Normally, cast and crew only receive a salary. Zendaya created the structure to reward the cast and crew that do the actual 'heavy lifting' on movie productions.
