Kelly Rowland Defends The Singer Kelly Rowland presented the AMA award for Best R&B Artist, which went to Chris Brown. When accepting the award on Brown’s behalf, hecklers in the crowd booed, and Kelly was quick to respond, saying, “excuse me…chill out,” before thanking Brown for his contribution to the genre. Fans have been split on their support of Brown since he and Rihanna got into an altercation in 2009. In 2017, Karrueche Tran, a presenter at the AMAs, filed a restraining order on Brown that continues through 2022. Brown was supposed to perform a Michael Jackson tribute for the 40th anniversary of Thriller, but the performance was canceled at the last minute. The AMAs didn’t address why. Do you think Chris Brown will ever be respected for his music?
