Damiano David On New Song 'Born With A Broken Heart': 'It's Very Personal'

Damiano David captured hearts all over the world with his band, Maneskin, but now, the Italian singer/songwriter is sharing some "very personal" solo music, and has been named iHeartRadio's latest On The Verge artist.

David shared his first solo song earlier this year, "Silverlines," and has since followed up with his latest, "Born With A Broken Heart." Anyone hearing to Damiano's solo music for the first time is in for a treat, and he has this advice when listening to it: "I would just really, really hope that they will listen to it free of any judgment and just have fun with it. It's fun music. It's beautiful music."

"Born With A Broken Heart" was written when Damiano was beginning to date his current girlfriend, Dove Cameron, and wasn't sure if he wanted to be in another relationship again. He sings in the song's chorus, "What if I said I'm tryin' to save your love from dyin'?/ Baby, I'm too far gone/ Don't wanna see you cryin', but I just know who I am/ And, baby, that's the hardest part of/ Baby, you can't fix me/ I was born with a broken heart."

Damiano tells iHeartRadio of his latest single, "This song is very personal. It comes from an actual real life experience. I wrote that when I was starting to see the person that today is my girlfriend. And at the time, I was not in a great mental space and not super a hundred percent sure that I wanted to start a relationship. So, I was not really giving back what I was getting every day, and I was feeling extremely guilty for it. And since music is my coping mechanism, I just wrote a song about it and today things are better. I'm happy we love each other."
