pastel.. Captures a Moment in Motion With “window” & EP double dot

pastel.. has reached a point where his music feels less like a search and more like a reflection. Built on years of quiet development, his recent rise with “window” marks a moment where personal expression and audience connection finally intersect. It’s not the result of a sudden shift, but the natural outcome of trusting a creative path that has been forming since his earliest days with music.

A Creative Foundation Built Early

Music was always present in pastel..’s life. Growing up in Minnesota surrounded by different genres through his parents gave him an appreciation for sound without boundaries. Rather than focusing on labels or categories, he learned to listen for feeling. That openness shaped the way he approached creativity, treating music as an extension of who he is rather than a product to be polished.

His first releases date back to middle school, created alongside his close friend Cameron. At the time, the goal was simple: make something that felt good. High school brought a few more songs, still casual and exploratory. It wasn’t until his senior year of college, after constant encouragement from friends, that he recognized the weight of what he was building. That realization pushed him to fully commit and approach music with intention.

Finding His Sound Through Confidence

The music pastel.. makes today reflect both patience and trust. Influenced by artists like Bob Marley, Sade, and Brent Faiyaz, his sound leans into atmosphere and restraint. Rather than overloading songs with ideas, he allows space for emotion to sit naturally. That approach gives his work a calm clarity that feels lived-in rather than performed.

“window” arrived during a time when life felt fast but thoughtful. The song captures the feeling of being present while still caught in your own head, a familiar space for late nights and long drives. It wasn’t written with expectations attached. The focus was on creating something smooth and honest, a track that didn’t demand attention but earned it quietly.

An EP That Reflects a New Chapter

Following the success of “window,” pastel.. released a new EP in double dot that feels like a snapshot of his current mindset. Having graduated college in May, he was able to dedicate more time and focus to the project. Working closely with his friend Griffin on production, he became more involved in shaping the sound, making the process collaborative and deliberate.

The EP doesn’t follow a strict narrative, but it carries a consistent energy. Influences from Afrobeats, particularly music from Nigeria and Senegal, blend seamlessly into his style without overshadowing it. The result is a project that feels cohesive, meant to be played straight through rather than dissected track by track.

Songs like “worldwide” reflect ambition and progress, capturing the feeling of being close to something bigger. “purpose” leans inward, addressing questions about direction and future while maintaining a sense of confidence. Together, the tracks paint a picture of an artist stepping into a new phase without pretending to have everything figured out.

Looking Beyond the Moment

With more attention on his work, pastel.. remains grounded. He acknowledges the pressure that comes with momentum but treats it as motivation instead of expectation. Rather than chasing what worked before, he’s focused on continuing to grow and refine his voice.

At the core of his vision is connection. Beyond streams and numbers, pastel.. wants listeners to feel like they understand him through the music. Each release serves as a chapter, documenting where he is in real time. As double dot and “window” continue to bring new ears to his work, he stands steady in the belief that honesty and consistency will always outlast hype.
