Yasiin Bey Announces Rare Performance Of His New Project ‘Money Christmas’

Yasiin Bey is preparing to deliver his first solo project in five years.

On Tuesday, December 10, the veteran MC, formerly known as Mos Def, announced plans to perform his new body of work called Money Christmas. In his Instagram post, Yasiin Bey shared details about his upcoming concert and debuted the EP's cover art by Anuar Khalifi called "Osanta Bin Lyin." The show is going down on Sunday, December 15, and will be live-streamed exclusively on Bandcamp beginning at 2 p.m. EST.

"Whatever you think it is ... it's not that," he wrote in the caption.

It's been five years since Yasiin Bey premiered his previous solo album Negus during Art Basel in Hong Kong. The eight-track project debuted as part of a collaboration between Bey and The Third Line, an art gallery based in Dubai. In May 2022, Bey reunited with Talib Kweli to release their second studio album No Fear of Time. They released the album exclusively via the podcast platform Luminary before it became available for purchase on Bandcamp a month later.

Fans won't be able to buy a physical copy of his previous solo album or stream it online, but they will be able to cop his brand-new project. The mastered songs from the live EP will be available for purchase and download 24-48 hours after his set. Fans will also get to buy exclusive merchandise designed by Yasiin Bey himself. You can pre-order the live-streamed performance now.
