Nikki Glaser is having a banner year and is capping off 2024 by earning praise for being one of the funniest people around.
The New York Times recently released its "Best of Comedy" list for 2024, naming the Nikki Glaser Podcast host as the "Comedian of the Year," specifically praising her for her "scene-stealing" set at the Tom Brady roast in May and new HBO stand-up special Someday You'll Die.
"Wearing a glittering dress and a strategic smile, she performs showbiz cheer, but underneath that shimmering facade is not just an ace club comic, but a restless artist exploring darker terrain," the NYT wrote of the special. "Glaser gets underestimated because she's filthy. But she can go high as well as low, cover universal subjects and meta comedy analysis, do hilarious character work (look out Instagram moms) and brainy jokes. This relentlessly funny hour is bleaker than it looks, digging into suicide, rape and the apocalypse, and in a year when it seemed like everyone had a comic take on why you shouldn't have kids, hers was the funniest."
In addition to the NYT honor, Glaser was also recently featured in Rolling Stone. She shared stunning photos from the photoshoot on her Instagram, joking in the caption, "I'm sorry I'm everywhere right now. It'll be over soon."
After an already successful 2024, the new year will bring even more opportunities for the comedian, including hosting an awards show. Glaser is set to host the 2025 Golden Globes on January 5, which she previously called "an exciting, yet challenging gig" in a hilarious yet heartfelt statement shortly after the announcement.
