Well, I guess phone communication is a thing of the past. On Thursday (September 20), just hours after Kanye West went on a random Instagram rant attacking Nick Cannon, Drake, and Tyson Beckford (all of whom either shaded Kanye's wife Kim Kardashian or in Ye's words upset his spirt), Nick became the first of the three men to respond to Ye's rant.
âWelcome back, Ye, from the sunken place. Itâs a beautiful thing, Iâm glad youâre back with us brother,â Nick began his two-video Instagram response. âNothing but love and respect for you brother, you know Iâve always had that. But I honestly got to say this, my dude. Iâve never said anything disrespectful or harmful to ya, in my opinion, to your marriage or your union. I salute it, keep it going.â
âBut you are not gonna tell me what I can and what I canât say, Iâm a solid individual," Nick continued, referencing Kanye's rant where he told him not to mention his wife. "Someone asks me a question, Iâm gonna answer it to the best of my ability. Iâm gonna give my opinion," he added. "There ainât no harm, no foul. But I know it got your spirit feeling weird. Holla at me. You know where Iâm at, you know what Iâm saying. A manâs spirit is free but pride binds it at times, so you gotta let that lose, let it lose.â
As previously reported, Kanye's initial rant steemed from an Everyday Struggle interview where Nick said he didnât think it was a âfar off of a conceptâ that Drake and Kim hooked up. âFirst of all, I want to address Nick Cannon. I understand that you used to date my wife, but you know, you get into an interview, donât mention my wife,â Kanye said in his first of four Instagram videos on Thursday. âIf someone brings my wife up, say, âI respect that man, Iâm not speaking on that.â Donât be making no suggestions â like nobody f**ked my wife,â Kanye said before directing his next statements to Drake.
Clearly, unbothered by Ye's words, the Wild 'N Out host continued his response, by saying, "letâs talk about it. Come on the [Wild 'N Out]. Let's show itâs all love ⊠we can have a good time with this. It can be Mariah [Carey] jokes, Kim jokes, all that,â Nick, who was married to Mariah for eight years, said in the video. âIn all seriousness, Iâve got nothing for love for you, but Iâmma always speak my mind, just like you always speak yours. Not you, not NBC, not no corporate infrastructures, no one is ever gonna control what I say because I speak truth, always. Itâs love.â
