Olympian's Mother Dies Days after Silver Medal Victory

Last week proved to be an emotional one for shot putter Raven Saunders, who reveals her mother died just days after she won a Silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. Announcing the death of her "number one guardian angel" Tuesday on social media, Saunders says she'll be taking a break "to take care of my mental and my family. " She adds, "My mama was a great woman and will forever live through me." Clarissa Saunders, a mainstay at Olympics viewing parties in Florida, made her last public appearance on Friday when she was interviewed by a local TV station. Raven has not revealed her mother's cause of death.

Should Raven Saunders take comfort in knowing her mother saw her achieve her dream before she died?
